Swan Valley Retired Teachers (SVRT)

Swan Valley Retired Teachers (SVRT)

Our yearly membership varies between 23 and 30 members.

We meet 5 times a year for a luncheon meeting at the country home of Walter and Myrna Zinkiews.

This year for Christmas, we invited retired as well as current School Board members to our annual get together.

A number of retired teachers and guests traveled to the Meyers farm 3 miles West of Gilbert Plains. As well as touring some refurbished pioneer building etc., we climbed a 50 foot lighthouse constructed on the north bank of the Valley River. It was a very interesting structure. After the tour we had a great lunch at the Gilbert Plains golf course. To get to the clubhouse we had to cross a swinging bridge across the same Valley River.

The SVRT deliver meals on wheels during 2 weeks in February.
Of course many retired teachers volunteer in numerous organizations in the Valley.
