Ken Malcolm

I grew up in Swan River and after completing high school I got my B.A. and eventually my B.Ed. from Brandon University. I taught my entire career in Dauphin- starting in 1969 and retiring in 2002. Most of my career was spent teaching at the upper elementary level where I was a strong supporter of Outdoor Education.

My wife Linda and I enjoy visiting with our daughter (a teacher of French), her husband, and our three really neat grandchildren in Langley, B.C. We also enjoy a winter holiday with friends and fellow retired teachers and spouses for several weeks in Mexico. Life is good!

Since retiring, I have been active in DARTA, our local RTAM organization. I had the honor of being the local president for one year. I have been an active member of RTAM since retiring and have attended many AGMs. I have attended many rallies concerning teacher issues. I was one of the speakers at the Manitoba Legislature concerning our pensions and COLA.

I have been a member of the local Kinsmen Club and am now a member of the K-40s. I have been active in the local Fish and Wildlife Association and a member of the local Ducks Unlimited Association. I love the outdoors and continue to enjoy hunting and fishing.

Retirement is a time of transitions. Throughout your career you belonged to the Manitoba Teachers’ Society (MTS), but upon retirement you are no longer a member. The Retired Teachers’ Association of Manitoba (RTAM) exists to serve retired teachers. We invite you to join the growing number of RTAM members and enjoy the benefits of belonging.
