The Heartwarming Harmony of the RTAM Choir: A Celebration of Song, Community, and Engagement
February 5, 2025

For many of us, the holidays are a time for reflection, togetherness, and tradition, and the Retired Teachers’ Association of Manitoba (RTAM) Choir embraced all of that in their recent holiday concerts. This year, they joined forces with the Winnipeg Nurses Choir for a performance that left audiences filled with warmth and joy. But the RTAM Choir isn’t stopping there—they continue to bring together retired teachers through the power of song, and their upcoming events promise to be just as exciting and inspiring.
Bringing Retired Teachers Together
The RTAM Choir has become a beloved part of the retired teaching community in Manitoba in less that two years! Meeting at least once a week, the choir provides a space for members to reconnect, stay active, and continue engaging with each other through music. These weekly rehearsals are more than just practice sessions; they’re an opportunity to keep the spirit of camaraderie alive while promoting physical and mental well-being.

A Memorable Holiday Performance
The recent holiday concerts, which featured a beautiful collaboration between the RTAM Choir and the Winnipeg Nurses Choir, showcased the best of both organizations' musical talents. Audiences were treated to a concert filled with seasonal favorites and heartwarming performances that embodied the spirit of the season. The partnership with the Winnipeg Nurses Choir brought a special sense of community to the performance, as both groups share a dedication to service and support for others.
"We had such a wonderful time working with the Nurses Choir," says RTAM Choir Director, Bill Quinn. It was a great opportunity to share the stage and create between both groups and the audience, and it highlighted the power of music to unite people from different walks of life.
Looking Ahead: Spring Concerts and Beyond
The RTAM Choir’s winter and spring rehearsal schedule is already underway, with members gearing up for more music-filled events. Their passion for singing shows no signs of slowing down, and they have a spring concert series in the works that promises to bring even more joy and inspiration to their audiences. For members, rehearsing and performing is about more than just making music—it’s a chance to stay connected with old friends and create new memories.
A Grand Finale at the Winnipeg Goldeyes Baseball Game
The RTAM Choir is thrilled to be part of the Teachers Celebration on June 22nd, a special event sponsored by RTAM. That day, choir members will have the unique honor of performing both the Canadian and National Anthems on the field at the Winnipeg Goldeyes Baseball game. It’s an exciting opportunity for the choir to showcase their talent in front of a lively crowd, and it promises to be a memorable moment in the history of the RTAM Choir.
RTAM members will have the chance to buy tickets for the game in the RTAM section, which will be available for purchase starting in March. The event is not only a celebration of teachers but a testament to the continued vibrancy of the retired teaching community. The RTAM Choir’s performance will undoubtedly be one of the highlights of the day, and choir members are excited to share their voices with the audience in such a special setting.
Continuing the Tradition
The RTAM Choir’s commitment to bringing retired teachers together through music is more than just about rehearsing and performing—it’s about fostering a sense of belonging, purpose, and joy. Whether it's through their weekly rehearsals, holiday concerts, or the upcoming spring performances, the RTAM Choir remains a shining example of how music can keep us all connected, no matter where we are in life.
As the spring season draws nearer, the RTAM Choir’s schedule is already packed with exciting events that will continue to inspire and delight. From their collaboration with the Winnipeg Nurses Choir to their upcoming performance at the Goldeyes game, this dedicated group of retired teachers is showing no signs of slowing down. Keep an ear out for their beautiful voices—whether it’s at a concert, in the classroom, or on the field.
