I am sorry to inform you that the 2020 RTAM Annual General Meeting, which was scheduled for August 18 & 19, 2020 has been cancelled due to the evolving impact of coronavirus on the medical health care system. Given the on-going uncertainty of COVID-19 risk, RTAM feels it prudent to take this precautionary step understanding the Provincial restrictions recommended as well as to keep our membership safe.
At the Board of Directors Meeting, the Directors voted to cancel the AGM and recommend the next public AGM will be held in Winnipeg on May 4 & 5, 2021. In August 2020, the Board will have a meeting to conduct the basic business of the Association at an AGM including elections of Officers, appointed of Auditor for the 2021 year and budget for the 2020-2021 fiscal year. Decisions made by the Board will be compiled and shared with all members in the fall issue of KIT.
I want to reiterate the Directors do not take these steps lightly. RTAM will continue to be a transparent and democratic organization operating in the best interest of retired teachers.
This was a difficult decision and the Directors recognize this step is unprecedented for RTAM. I can assure you the rationale is rooted in doing what is in the best interests of the membership at this critical time.
